Portals opens doors to new ways of experiencing art, culture & brand.
Portals is a UK-based experiential-structure studio specialising in authentic refurbished K67 kiosks for luxury retail activations, pop-ups, cultural installations and global brand experiences.
Born from art
Creative and cultural thinking often feels removed from everyday life, confined to galleries and institutional spaces. At the same time, high streets, cultural organisations and design-led brands are searching for more considered ways to engage the public.
Portals sits between these two conditions.
Through the design icon K67 kiosk, a modular structure originally conceived in 1966 for civic use, this desire for more elevated creative solutions now takes physical form with a modular kiosk structure perfectly designed for brand activations and cultural projects, supporting retail, interaction and public engagement across a range of environments.

K67, a Global Design Icon.
Designed in 1966 by Saaa J. Mächtig, the K67 was conceived as a meeting point where citizens and systems intersect. A modular architecture for micro-economies, civic exchange, and everyday public life.
Its lightweight, adaptable form quickly became a fixture across Eastern Europe, enabling thousands of small businesses and cultural encounters. Over 7,500 units were produced before manufacturing ceased in 1999. Today, only an unknown number remain, each one a surviving fragment of design history.
Now recognised globally as a design icon, the K67 entered the collection of Museum of Modern Art in 1971, where it remains both exhibited and in use. A rare example of design that continues to live simultaneously as art and working function.
Meet the Founders.
Portals was founded by Sarah Kravitz and James Barnes, bringing together backgrounds in art, curation and experiential marketing.
